Matt Driver

 
Matt Driver boasts over 20 years of experience in the field of player education and development in America. He is a former professional player whos spent most of his career playing in Europe before coming over to play in the former American Professional Soccer League (APSL). He holds an A license from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and is a National Staff Coach for the United States Adult Soccer Association USASA. In addition, he carries a Brazilian A license and a Scottish Football Association A-1 license. Driver holds a Premier License and also served as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Director of Coaching for the state of Delaware and directed the states Olympic Development Program (ODP). Driver influenced many coaches and his methodologies have produced best-selling books and DVDs. His unique approach to the game focuses on simplicity. Driverís ability to break the game down allows every player and coach he works with to accelerate their learning curve, regardless of their ability level. Drivers experience in professional soccer allows him to network and build relationships with the top players and coaches in American soccer. He founded the Philadelphia Independence womens pro team (WPS) and became the franchise's first general manager and head coach. On the menís side, Driver worked with the New England Revolution (MLS) as their first assistant coach. Driver and his staff took the Revolution from last place to first place in the Eastern Conference table. They were also responsible for the Revolutions first playoff victory as well as their first-ever MLS Cup appearance in front of a record crowd of 61,316. Driver, a Glasgow, Scotland native, also served as Technical Director and Chief Operating Officer for the South Jersey Barons (USL).
